Infrastructure Engineer – On-Prem Infrastructure
IR35: Outside IR35
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to site in St Albans with reasonable notice
We are currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Engineer to support an enterprise FMCG client during an exciting period of infrastructure and office development.
The role will focus primarily on on-premise infrastructure, supporting day-to-day operations as well as the delivery of infrastructure requirements for a new office location in St Albans.

Support and maintain on-premise IT infrastructure, ensuring systems remain robust, available and well supported.
Carry out infrastructure tasks including patching, cabling, hardware and general infrastructure support.
Support Windows Server, SQL Server, VMware and Microsoft 365 environments.
Provide first- and second-line infrastructure support, troubleshooting incidents and responding to infrastructure alerts.
Support infrastructure changes and project activities, ensuring changes are properly documented and safely implemented.
Assist with infrastructure monitoring, disaster recovery activities and operational testing.
Follow IT security, compliance and change management processes.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records and runbooks.
Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and infrastructure stakeholders.

Essential Experience
3–5 years' experience in an IT infrastructure, infrastructure support or IT support environment.
Hands-on experience supporting on-premise infrastructure.
Good knowledge of Windows Server and Microsoft technologies.
Experience with hardware, patching, cabling and general infrastructure troubleshooting.
Exposure to virtualisation, preferably VMware vSphere.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows 10/11.
Exposure to cloud infrastructure, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or equivalent.
Experience with Intune/MDM.
Networking knowledge or Network+.
ITIL Foundation or experience working within ITIL environments.
PowerShell and/or Bash scripting experience.
Experience supporting multi-site environments.
